I had the same thing happen to me last friday with my 265. It sounds like I will need a new engine too, but I’ve got to say, I’m a bit worried about it crapping out again after reading this all these messages.

Where did you buy your car?

I also have a 2009 wrx, with stage 1 access port installed and things have been excellent.

I’ll keep an eye on things here, but would guess and hope that this is a one off issue.

Just spoke to the dealer mine is on the truck and should be getting it within the next week or so. I brought up the fact of others having this issue and he stated that subaru has not yet sent any bulletin to them on this issue and if it is widespread they are very fast in resolving the issue. I asked him about the same problem in 08 and he said that it was a very minimal amount of cars that were affected and that a few cars were tagged and had to be checked out prior to sale. he told me to rest assure. So i hope this issue isn’t as widespread as it seems to be so far. this might have just affected the earlier ones that came out.

Just some info i found with the break in and maintenance info for subie’s thought it might be useful. Still waiting on the dealer update me on the issue with the wrx i’ll let everyone know once he gets back to me.

Just came back from de dealer. The engine is brand new (thats what the dealer told me). Take only a week to get my car back, I hope everything will be allright.

The dealer told me that I was not the first one … So I think the problem is a manufacture’s defect.
