If its the rods, might want to see if the dealer is willing to do some upgrades now and you pay the difference on the parts (thats if you were debating on doing any upgrades) got me caught in a dilemma now. Very sad thought this car was gonna be solid with all the extra kyo-ka attention it received. Let us know the outcome and i guess i will be keeping my AAA membership if i decide to get it with the bad road side assistance service. I'm actually supposed to pick my 09 up next week got it as a sedan as well just couldn't see myself in a hatch. A few of my friends own wrx's and i've heard this sound before don't wanna upset you or jump to conclusions but i believe he spun out his engine bearings. However thats because he deserved it and downshifted to 2nd gear while doing over 1o0 to make a tight turn. He didn't hit the wall but did need a new engine however it was covered by subaru and was able to convince them the car was properly maintained and therefore had to be a defect. Best thing he did was get the car towed immediatly at the first sign of problems which showed he wasn't neglegent. I believe there is a proper break in period which is over the first 1,000 miles i've seen it on the internet before and asked the dealer as well, i trust him since my friends get all there tuning done with him. He stated that the new engines should not be beat up at all since the engines have already been set, and to just drive them softly with low revs and not over 60 mph, make sure to drive in different gears and speed ranges for that time being. So guess he is saying to not get on the highway and put it on cruise for the whole time.
