Car busted, so much to write about. For now, car is towed to dealer, I think it needs a new engine, just over 2000 KM on it, so disappointed.

did you follow the proper break in for the motor?
I’m worried now. I’m hoping mine won’t do the same. Please keep me informed on what you find out .

I just drove it, i did not do anything special or followed a break routine, at the dealership no one told me to do anything.

Man sorry to hear about your car. I’m actually supposed to pick my 09 up next week got it as a sedan as well just couldn’t see myself in a hatch. A few of my friends own wrx’s and i’ve heard this sound before don’t wanna upset you or jump to conclusions but i believe he spun out his engine bearings. However thats because he deserved it and downshifted to 2nd gear while doing over 1o0 to make a tight turn. He didn’t hit the wall but did need a new engine however it was covered by subaru and was able to convince them the car was properly maintained and therefore had to be a defect. Best thing he did was get the car towed immediatly at the first sign of problems which showed he wasn’t neglegent. I believe there is a proper break in period which is over the first 1,000 miles i’ve seen it on the internet before and asked the dealer as well, i trust him since my friends get all there tuning done with him. He stated that the new engines should not be beat up at all since the engines have already been set, and to just drive them softly with low revs and not over 60 mph, make sure to drive in different gears and speed ranges for that time being. So guess he is saying to not get on the highway and put it on cruise for the whole time. Wish you the best of luck on the car please let us know whats up with your car and keep us updated, might talk me out of picking mine up next week.

Hi Dan
Here is the deal with the break in, in a way i broke it in, because the weekend i got it, i drove from Ottawa to Toronto, which is a 900 KM trip both ways, did HWY miles at low rev not cruise because i took hwy 7 which is no a cursing hwy. The problems hit when i got close to 2000 KM.

By not a cruising, i mean its not a hwy you use cruse control

Wow now you really got me rethinking on picking up my car next week, might be worth paying the extra $2,000 and getting an extended warranty on it when the time comes. If its the rods, might want to see if the dealer is willing to do some upgrades now and you pay the difference on the parts (thats if you were debating on doing any upgrades) got me caught in a dilemma now. Very sad thought this car was gonna be solid with all the extra kyo-ka attention it received. Let us know the outcome and i guess i will be keeping my AAA membership if i decide to get it with the bad road side assistance service.

Hi guys,
I got the same problem last week. The car is now at the dealer waiting for another engine … I was at 5600 Km.
